How to Choose the Right Hub Adapter for Your Steering Wheel
One of the most common questions we get at New World Motoring is: Do I need a hub adapter? Yes — in nearly every case when installing an aftermarket steering wheel, you will need a hub adapter (also called a boss kit). This guide explains what a hub adapter is and how to choose the right one.
What Is a Hub Adapter?
A hub adapter connects an aftermarket steering wheel to your vehicle's steering column. Your factory column has a specific spline pattern unique to your year/make/model. The hub adapter matches those splines on one side and connects to a standard steering wheel bolt pattern on the other.
How to Choose the Right Hub Adapter
- Know your Year, Make, and Model — for example: 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
- Check your column type — tilt or airbag-equipped columns may require specific adapters.
- Browse our Adapters collection — if unsure, email info@newworldmotoring.com or call (626) 201-7615.
